MusicXML

MusicXML is an XML-based file format for representing Western musical notation. The format is open, fully documented, and can be freely used under the W3C Community Final Specification Agreement. As of September 2024, over 270 notation programs have at least some MusicXML interchange capability.[16][17] These programs include:
  1. Most scorewriting programs, including Finale, Dorico, Sibelius, and MuseScore
  2. Most optical music recognition programs, including SmartScore, PhotoScore and Audiveris
  3. Most music sequencer programs, including Cubase, Logic Pro, Digital Performer, and SONAR
Thus often someone in the choir with the proper software tools may generate musicXML for the choir to use. Often this software also scannes the music scores that the choir as bought, making the process easy.
